Exclude from Publishing

If you want to temporarily pull some content off your live or QA web site with the possibility of adding it back later, you'll want to unpublish your content and exclude it from future publish jobs. This is especially handy for time-sensitive content that may only be visible on your web site for a designated amount of time. Or, if you have a page in development but it is not quite ready for your live site, it can be excluded from Cascade CMS publishing.

If you want to remove content from Cascade CMS altogether, use the delete function.

To exclude an asset from publishing:

  1. Navigate to the page or file you want to exclude from publishing in the asset tree.
  2. Select the page and click the Edit icon in the the top menu bar - or use the context menu and right-click on the page you want to edit and select Edit.
  3. Locate the Configure tab at the top of the editable content pane which will show checkboxes for:
    • Indexing ("Include when indexing") and
    • Publishing ("Include when publishing").
  4. Disable the "Include when publishing" option
  5. Click Submit.

This will essentially "freeze" any content you already have on your web site, so you may want to unpublish your content before disabling publishing for the asset in question.

Disabling "Include when indexing" will affect your website navigation. This prevents Cascade CMS from indexing the asset (or its contents if the asset is a folder) which is used to build web site navigation. It will not affect publishing.
