Feedable Content

Events in the University Calendar and Stories created for your website are known as feedable content. This means that they can appear not only on your site but can be fed to multiple websites across the richmond.edu domain. Connecting and removing this content works differently from other content types in Cascade. Please follow the guidelines below and refer to their separate pages for additional instructions.

Connecting to a Page

Your site has likely already been set up so that this content appears on your home page or on its own individual page. To ensure that your story or event appears on your site, make sure you are using the appropriate categories for Events and display groups for Stories.

Deleting an Event or Story

If you need to remove any feedable content from your site, simply mark it as “Inactive. You cannot delete an event or story in Cascade. If you select Delete, Cascade will instead create a duplicate of the event rather than removing it. If a duplicate has been created, please fill out our Remove Duplicate Content form so that we can correct this issue.

Instead, follow these instructions to mark an event or story as inactive:

  1. Navigate to the item you want to delete in either the _Events or _Stories site.
  2. Select the item and select Edit from the the top right menu bar. Or, use the context menu, right-click on the page you want to delete in the asset tree, and select Edit.
  3. Select Inactive at the top of the edit screen.
  4. Select Submit.
  5. Select the Publish icon. Or, use the context menu, right-click on the page in the asset tree,  and select Publish.
  6. Select the Publish button.

Moving and Renaming

Moving feedable content or changing its name will also create a duplicate. After an event or story has been created, please refrain from moving or renaming this content.

If a duplicate has already been created, please fill out our Remove Duplicate Content form.
