Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a service that provides extensive statistics about traffic to a website. Data available through this service consists of visits, sessions, users, engagement rate, and average engagement time.
Google Analytics recently introduced its next generation of analytics, Google Analytics 4, also known as GA4. GA4 collects event-based rather than session-based data and includes privacy controls, such as cookieless measurement. This new property replaced Universal Analytics, which is no longer accessible as of July 1, 2024.
Web Services and University Communications has completed the transition to GA4 for all richmond.edu sites. To access your site's analytics in GA4, be sure to look for "GA4" after your site's name after logging into Google Analytics.
If you are new to GA4, we recommend spending some time learning about how to use it. Here are some recommended resources:

Lastly, please be aware that GA4 can only account for traffic since July 1, 2022. If you need access to more historical data, please contact us.
