Transitioning Content
During our Fall 2024 User Gathering, we announced a new and simplified Events entry system for the University Calendar, as well as updates to colors available within Cascade CMS to align with University branding.
New colors and the new Events entry system are currently live. We ask users to prepare for Green, Orange, and Yellow colors to be removed from Cascade beginning on February 3, 2025. An updated homepage for the University Calendar with new featured events will go live in early 2025.
Below are specific instructions for transitioning your content in the meantime.
Events
We advise moving to the new Events system as soon as you are able so that you can begin taking advantage of new features like our integration with the digital map. Legacy Events (those in the MAE folder) will continue to appear on the University Calendar, but will not include some new features and will be ineligible for featured placement on the University Calendar homepage.
Creating and Editing New Events
Please refer to our updated guidance for creating and editing events in the new Events system.
Editing Legacy Events
Any Legacy Events that have already been created (using the MAE folder), will still appear on the University Calendar and can continue to be edited as needed. Please follow our Legacy Events guidance.
To assist in this transition and ensure Legacy Events are discoverable on our updated University Calendar homepage, we have added the new event Display Groups as options. Under the Event Main Information menu, you will find Categories, Audience Group, and Category Group options. Select any of the options that apply to your event, submit, and publish.
Please note that Legacy Events will not support any other new or upcoming features, and will not be eligible to be featured on the University Calendar moving forward.
Transitioning Legacy Events
If you would like to move an event over to the new calendar, please mark your existing event (in the MAE folder) as inactive, submit the event, and publish the event. Then create a new event page in the calendar folder for this event. Follow our new Events guidance.
Do not copy an event from the MAE folder into the calendar folder. If published, this will just duplicate the event, but not transition it over to the new events system. Any events you would like to move over to the new system must be done manually.

Colors
As we discussed during our Fall ‘24 User Gathering, we will be removing three colors from Cascade CMS in order to more closely align with University branding. This encompasses both the removal of Green, Orange, and Yellow color options and the addition of Teal and Westhampton Blue. This change will most notably impact Ribbon Rows.
We ask users to prepare for Green, Orange, and Yellow to be removed from Cascade beginning on February 3, 2025. To make this transition, please make use of the other colors available across the content on your site. Start by reviewing the landing pages on your site for these colors, and if you need further assistance, please reach out to Alicia Hubbard.
