Text Regions

Text Regions appear throughout Cascade and are important to understand how to edit. Most commonly, they are found on Secondary Pages in the Main Content region. They also appear on some Landing Pages, primarily within Modular Content Rows. Read more about editing Text Regions within these pages types below.

On Secondary Pages

Most commonly, you will edit Text Regions in the Main Content region of a Secondary Page. To access it from the Edit screen, open the Main Content menu and select “Text Region” from the Content Type dropdown menu. A Text Region menu will appear which you can click to expand. This reveals the Content Region Copy which you can edit using standard rich text editing tools.

Notable tools within the text region include:

  • Headings: Found under the Formats menu, select the appropriate style for your text. We recommend using Headings 1, 2, or 3. Headings should be used sequentially on the page. Since all Page Titles use Heading 1, you will typically want to use Heading 2 to differentiate sections of text within this region. For deeper sub-sections of text, use Heading 3. For all other copy that is not a heading, choose Paragraph text under the Blocks menu.

    • Bold and italics options are also available in the editor. Please use these sparingly and not in place of proper heading structures.

  • Hyperlink: Select the link icon to add a hyperlink to a selection of text. For full guidance on hyperlinks, read our Creating Hyperlinks guide.

  • Insert/Edit Image: We do not recommend using this option for adding an image to your page, as it is not optimized for page load times and web accessibility. Instead, please follow our guidance for images.

On Landing Pages

To edit a Text Region on a Landing Page, you will most likely find it inside the Modular Content Row. Upon opening the Modular Content Menu, you will find a similar Content Region menu that is similar to the Main Content menu on Secondary Pages. If “Text Region” has been selected under Content Type, then the Text Region menu will appear beneath it. The rich text editor for the Text Region is the same as the editor on a Secondary Page.

Large Text Rows

For a single text region on any Landing Page, there is the option to enable Large Text. This helps text stand out more on the webpage by increasing the font sizes slightly. This also enables option to add background colors and patterns behind the text. This is best used with a small group of text, and can only be utilized once on a page.

To enable this feature, begin by selecting “Modular Content Row” in the Row Type menu. Then, select “Custom” under Row Custom Styling. Next, click to expand the Row Styling menu that appears. Within this menu, be sure to review the following options:

  • Background Color (optional): While None is selected by default, you may select Red, Blue, or Charcoal, from the dropdown menu. These will appear as solid colors behind your text, or will layer on top of the Background Pattern.

  • Background Pattern (optional): A pattern can be chosen from the dropdown menu as your background. “Swoop” and “Swoop Pattern” are patterns, while the remaining options are images. Please note that a Background Color must be selected for a Background Pattern to appear.

  • Large Text: Simply check Yes to enable this feature. A background color and pattern is not required to enable.

Large Text Rows may also be added to a Secondary Page as a Row at the bottom of the page, using the same steps above for a Modular Content Row.
